Product identification and labeling
Complete production data in daily operations
SmartDepot enables companies to move beyond simplified product identifiers and work with labels that carry complete production data. During goods receipt and goods issue, the system records precise information about which product, from which batch, and with which attributes was delivered to a specific customer or location. By working directly with GS1 Application Identifiers, SmartDepot connects warehouse operations, production, and product data into a single, coherent information model — ready for Digital Link–based scenarios.

Data encoded on labels
Labels used in SmartDepot can contain far more than a basic product identifier. The system operates on data such as batch numbers, production lots, expiration dates, and other parameters required in operational, quality, and logistics processes. This data is interpreted directly during scanning, without the need for manual data entry.
Operation registration
During goods receipt and goods issue, SmartDepot records exactly which individual product units are received or issued. This provides unambiguous information about which batches, lots, or expiration dates were delivered to a specific customer or location. The complete movement history of products is retained and can be reconstructed at any time.
Data Consistency
The same product data is used across warehouse operations, production processes, and reporting. This eliminates discrepancies between systems and removes the need for manual data adjustments after operations are completed. SmartDepot treats label data as a primary source of information, not merely an auxiliary element of warehouse processes.
GS1 Application Identifiers
SmartDepot works directly with GS1 Application Identifiers both during scanning and label generation. As a result, the system understands the structure of data encoded in 1D and 2D barcodes and can interpret their operational meaning unambiguously. This approach ensures data consistency regardless of label format or the device used.
GS1 Digital Link
By operating on GS1 Application Identifiers, SmartDepot naturally prepares organizations to adopt the GS1 Digital Link concept. Data captured during warehouse and production processes can serve as a foundation for sharing information with other systems, business partners, or — in the future — consumer-facing information portals. In this way, SmartDepot acts as a bridge between operational WMS systems and the world of digital product information.
